Mikel Jones

Mikel Jones (born June 30, 2000) is an American professional football player who plays as a safety for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Ohio State University, where he was a starting safety and contributed to the Buckeyes' defense from 2019 to 2021. Jones was selected by the Eagles in the seventh round (228th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Early life and education
Jones was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and attended The Haverford School, a private preparatory school, where he excelled in football and was rated as a four-star recruit. He committed to Ohio State University and enrolled in 2019.

College career
During his tenure at Ohio State, Jones appeared in 38 games, starting 22. He recorded 136 total tackles, including 12 tackles for loss, three interceptions, and nine pass breakups. He earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors in his senior season and was recognized for his leadership on and off the field.

Professional career
After going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, Jones signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as a seventh‑round pick. He made the team's active roster and contributed primarily on special teams and as a backup safety during his rookie season. As of the end of the 2023 season, Jones has appeared in 22 NFL games, recording 18 total tackles and one forced fumble.

Personal life
Jones is noted for his community involvement in Philadelphia, participating in youth mentorship programs and charitable events organized by the Eagles organization. He majored in sports industry at Ohio State.
