Mid-Cambridge, also known as "Area 6," is a neighborhood of Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. It is a large, high-density residential neighborhood situated between several of Cambridge's most prominent squares.
Geography and Boundaries
Mid-Cambridge is bounded by Massachusetts Avenue on the south and west, Prospect Street on the east, and Hampshire Street, the Somerville border, Kirkland Street, Quincy Street, and Cambridge Street on the north. The neighborhood borders Central Square, Harvard Square, and Inman Square, placing it in a central and well-connected position within the city.

As of 2005, the neighborhood had a population of approximately 13,285 residents living in 5,989 households. The average household income at that time was $50,410.
Notable Landmarks and Institutions
Key anchors within Mid-Cambridge include Harvard University, Cambridge Health Alliance, Cambridge City Hall, and the main branch of the Cambridge Public Library. The neighborhood also features historic architecture, including Christ the King Presbyterian Church on Prospect Street, which was constructed in 1851 by architect Alexander Esty.

Mid-Cambridge is predominantly residential, characterized by tree-lined streets, triple-decker homes, and historic single-family and multi-family residences. It is sometimes referred to as "The Golden Triangle" due to its location between Harvard, Inman, and Central Squares. Conservation District
The Mid-Cambridge Neighborhood Conservation District was established in 1985 by the Cambridge City Council. The district is bordered by Prospect Street to the east, Prescott Street to the west, Kirkland Street and the Somerville city line to the north, and Massachusetts Avenue to the south.
