Michel Goma (born December 25, 1987) is a Congolese professional footballer who plays as a defender. Recognized for his defensive solidity and versatility, Goma has had a notable career playing for several prominent clubs in his native Democratic Republic of Congo and in North Africa, and has also represented the DR Congo national team.
Club Career
Goma began his senior career in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He first rose to prominence playing for AS Vita Club, one of the country's top-tier clubs, where his performances as a defender garnered attention. He later moved to another major Congolese club, DC Motema Pembe.In 2012, Goma made a significant move to North Africa, joining Algerian giants USM Alger. During his tenure with USM Alger, he was part of teams that competed for domestic and regional titles, notably winning the Algerian Cup and the UAFA Club Cup.
He later returned to the DR Congo to play for TP Mazembe, one of Africa's most decorated clubs. His time with Mazembe saw him involved in continental competitions, including the CAF Champions League, which the club won in 2015. Goma's career also included spells with Olympique de Khouribga in Morocco and a return to Algerian football with JS Kabylie.
International Career
Michel Goma has represented the Democratic Republic of Congo national football team, commonly known as the Leopards. He earned caps for his country and was notably part of the squad that participated in the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN), a tournament exclusively for players who ply their trade in their respective national leagues.Playing Style
