Michael Waginger (born July 5, 1979) is a German former professional ice hockey forward who played primarily in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), the highest level of ice hockey in Germany.
Born in Kaufbeuren, Germany, Waginger began his professional career with his hometown club, ESV Kaufbeuren, competing in the lower divisions of German hockey. He moved to the DEL in 2003, joining the Frankfurt Lions. During his tenure with Frankfurt, he was part of the squad that won the DEL championship in the 2003–2004 season.
In 2006, Waginger signed with ERC Ingolstadt, where he played for six seasons. Known for his defensive reliability and work ethic as a depth forward, he became a consistent presence in the Ingolstadt lineup. Over the course of his DEL career, he appeared in over 450 regular-season games.
Internationally, Waginger represented the German national team. His most notable international appearance occurred at the 2008 IIHF World Championship, where he played six games for Germany.
Waginger retired from professional ice hockey following the 2013–2014 season, which he spent with ESV Kaufbeuren in the DEL2. Since his retirement, he has remained involved in the sport in various local and developmental capacities.
