Michael Ray (born Michael Ray Roach on April 29, 1988) is an American country music singer and songwriter. He is signed to Warner Music Nashville.
Ray began his musical career playing in local bars and venues in his home state of Florida. He gained wider recognition in 2012 after winning The CW's singing competition The Next: Fame Is at Your Door. Following his win, he signed with Atlantic Records and released his debut single, "Kiss You in the Morning," in 2014. This single became a number one hit on the Billboard Country Airplay chart in 2015, establishing Ray as a rising star in country music.
His self-titled debut album was released in 2015 and produced two additional singles, "Think a Little Less" and "Real Men Don't Dance," both of which reached the top 20 on the Country Airplay chart. Ray has since released additional albums, including Amos (2018) and Higher Education (2021). Higher Education produced the singles "Whiskey and Rain" and "Holy Water." His musical style is rooted in traditional country music with contemporary influences.
Ray has toured extensively, both as a headlining act and as an opening act for established country artists. He has received nominations for several awards, including the Academy of Country Music Awards. His personal life has also been subject to media attention, particularly his brief marriage to fellow country singer Carly Pearce.
