Michael Möllinger

Michael Möllinger (born October 25, 1980, in Oberstaufen, West Germany) is a former Swiss Nordic combined skier. He competed internationally from the late 1990s through the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Early Life and Career Born in West Germany, Möllinger represented Switzerland throughout his competitive career. He began his professional career in Nordic combined, a winter sport that combines ski jumping and cross-country skiing, in the late 1990s. His early career saw him competing in various junior and Continental Cup events, before making his World Cup debut.

Olympic and World Championship Appearances Möllinger participated in three Winter Olympic Games:

  • 2002 Salt Lake City: He competed in both the individual Gundersen and sprint events.
  • 2006 Turin: He again competed in the individual Gundersen and sprint, achieving his best Olympic result with a 7th-place finish as part of the Swiss team in the team event.
  • 2010 Vancouver: His final Olympic appearance saw him compete in the individual normal hill/10 km and individual large hill/10 km events.

He also represented Switzerland at several FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, competing in various individual and team Nordic combined events.

World Cup Performance Throughout his World Cup career, Möllinger achieved several top-10 finishes, demonstrating consistent performance at the elite level of the sport. While he did not secure a World Cup victory, his regular presence among the top competitors marked him as a significant figure in Swiss Nordic combined for over a decade.

Retirement and Post-Sport Career Michael Möllinger retired from competitive sport after the 2009–10 season. Following his athletic career, he pursued further education, reportedly studying sports science. He has since been involved in sports management and consulting roles.
