Michael Dinneen

Michael Dinneen (born 1989) is an Irish hurler who played as a defender for the Cork senior team and his local club Newtownshandrum. He is primarily known for his role as a full-back or corner-back.

Early Life and Club Career

Born in Newtownshandrum, County Cork, Dinneen first played hurling at a young age with his local club. He quickly rose through the ranks and became a key player for Newtownshandrum. He experienced significant success at the club level, culminating in a Cork Senior Hurling Championship title in 2009.

Inter-county Career

Dinneen represented Cork at various levels, including minor and under-21, where he captained the under-21 team. He made his senior inter-county debut for Cork in 2011. Throughout his career with the Cork senior team, he was a consistent presence in the defense, known for his tenacious marking and strong aerial ability. He was part of the Cork teams that won two Munster Senior Hurling Championships in 2014 and 2017, and a National Hurling League title in 2017. Dinneen announced his retirement from inter-county hurling at the end of the 2019 season.
