Omri Ferradura Breda, known as Mestre Ferradura (born January 22, 1976), is a Brazilian Mestre de Capoeira (Capoeira master), pedagogue, president of the Brazilian Institute of Capoeira Education (IBCE), and director of the Brincadeira de Angola project.
Biography
Mestre Ferradura began practicing Capoeira in 1991 in Rio de Janeiro under Mestre Marrom (Henrique Anastácio de Jesus), from whom he received his graduation as a master in 2010. He started teaching Capoeira in 1993. He earned a degree in Pedagogy from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) and specialized in Early Childhood Education.
Contributions to Capoeira Education
Mestre Ferradura is the founder and coordinator of the Brincadeira de Angola project, which focuses on the playful teaching of Capoeira applied to early childhood education. He developed a pedagogical-philosophical method based on the educational potential of Capoeira as a transformative practice, emphasizing the deconstruction of racism through the valorization of African roots. His methodology balances traditional ancestral knowledge passed from master to disciple with academic knowledge.
Along with Mestre Itapuã Beira-Mar, he produced "Movimento Novo" (New Movement), which addresses violence resulting from contact between capoeiristas from different schools and proposes peaceful interaction for new generations.
