Mendy Chitrik

Mendy Chitrik (born 1977) is an American-born Israeli-Turkish rabbi who serves as the chairman of the Alliance of Rabbis in Islamic States (ARIS). Based in Istanbul, Turkey, he is a Chabad-Lubavitch emissary and the rabbi of the city's Ashkenazi community.

Chitrik relocated to Turkey in 2001 to serve the local Jewish population. In his capacity as a communal leader, he oversees various religious services, including the coordination of kosher certification under the Turkish Rabbinate (Denet Gıda). He is a member of the Conference of European Rabbis (CER) and is actively involved in interfaith dialogue and the preservation of Jewish heritage sites across Turkey and the broader Middle East.

In 2019, Chitrik was instrumental in the founding of the Alliance of Rabbis in Islamic States, an organization that represents rabbis living and working in Muslim-majority countries. As chairman, he works to facilitate Jewish life, provide religious resources, and foster peaceful coexistence between Jewish and Muslim communities. He is frequently cited in international media regarding the status of Jewish communities in the Islamic world and the promotion of religious freedom.
