Mel Lintern

Mel Lintern (born 29 October 1953) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. His career spanned the 1970s and early 1980s, primarily in the Football League.

Career

Lintern began his professional career with Swindon Town, joining the club as an apprentice. He made his senior debut for Swindon and went on to make 60 league appearances, scoring 3 goals, between 1971 and 1974.

In 1974, he transferred to Crystal Palace, where he spent two seasons. He featured in 67 league matches for Palace, scoring 5 goals.

Following his time at Crystal Palace, Lintern moved to Aldershot in 1976. He enjoyed a productive spell with the club, making 106 league appearances and scoring 10 goals over three seasons.

He then joined Gillingham in 1979. Lintern played 93 league games for Gillingham, contributing 5 goals, before concluding his professional playing career in 1982.

Throughout his career, Lintern was known as a tenacious and hardworking midfielder.
