Maurits Hubrecht van den Boogert (born 1972) is a Dutch historian, writer on Ottoman history, and academic publishing executive.
Academic Background
He studied Orientalism at Leiden University, obtaining his PhD in 2001, and subsequently worked as a researcher in Ottoman history at that institute. His scholarly focus is on Ottoman history from approximately 1700 to 1900, with particular expertise in Ottoman legal history and international relations during the 18th century.
Career
After his time at Leiden University, van den Boogert joined Brill Publishers (now De Gruyter Brill) in 2006. He has held various roles at the publishing house, including:
- Acquisitions Editor and Acquisitions Manager
- Senior Publishing Director for multiple programs (Asian Studies, Islamic Studies, Languages and Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies, and International Law)
- Managing Director of Koninklijke Brill B.V.
- Co-Chief Publishing Officer (CPO) at De Gruyter Brill (appointed alongside Manuela Gerlof in a dual leadership role, joining the Management Board)
