Matt Freije (born October 20, 1975) is an American former professional basketball player. He is best known for his collegiate career in the United States and brief tenure in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as well as subsequent professional play in various international leagues.
Early life and education
Freije was born in the United States Virgin Islands. He attended high school in the Virgin Islands before moving to the United States for collegiate studies. He enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he played for the Nevada Wolf Pack men's basketball team. After two seasons, Freije transferred to Ohio State University and completed his college eligibility with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
College career
While at Nevada, Freije played as a forward/center, contributing to the Wolf Pack’s interior defense and rebounding.
