Matt Brock is an American football coach who primarily specializes in defensive line and special teams coaching. He has held various coaching positions at the collegiate level, notably in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).
Brock began his coaching career as a student assistant at Baker University in 2004, where he also played linebacker. He then moved to the University of Toledo as a graduate assistant from 2006 to 2008.
His collegiate coaching journey includes significant roles at several prominent programs:
- Texas Tech (2012-2015): Brock served as the defensive quality control coach before being promoted to special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach.
- Boise State (2016-2018): He joined the Broncos staff as special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach, helping develop strong special teams units.
- Washington (2019): Brock spent one season with the Huskies as the special teams coordinator and defensive line coach.
- Mississippi State (2020-2023): He returned to the SEC, initially as the special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach under Mike Leach. Following Leach's passing and Zach Arnett's promotion, Brock was elevated to defensive coordinator for the 2023 season, showcasing his growth within the defensive scheme.
- Texas A&M (2024-present): Brock joined the Texas A&M staff as co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.
