Andrés Mateus Uribe Villa (born 21 March 1991) is a Colombian professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Categoría Primera A club Atlético Nacional and the Colombia national team.
Early Life and Career
Born in Medellín, Colombia, Uribe was formed at Envigado FC's youth academy. He began his professional career with Argentine third division side Deportivo Español in the Primera B Metropolitana, scoring two goals in four appearances. He returned to Envigado in 2012 and played regularly in the Categoría Primera A before a loan spell at Deportes Tolima in 2015.
Club Career
Uribe joined Atlético Nacional in 2016, winning the Copa Colombia in 2016 and the league title in 2017. In August 2017, he transferred to Liga MX side Club América, where he scored 14 goals across all competitions in his first season and was named to the 2018 Clausura Best XI. He won the Apertura 2018 title, the Copa MX Clausura 2019, and the Campeón de Campeones with América.
In August 2019, Uribe joined Portuguese club FC Porto for a €10 million fee on a four-year contract. During his four seasons with Porto, he won eight trophies: two Primeira Liga titles (2019–20, 2021–22), three Taça de Portugal (2019–20, 2021–22, 2022–23), one Taça da Liga (2022–23), and two Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira (2020, 2022). He made 176 appearances for Porto across all competitions, scoring 15 goals.
In June 2023, Uribe joined Qatari club Al Sadd on a free transfer. He scored the decisive goal in the 118th minute of the 2024 Amir Cup final against Qatar SC, securing his first title with the club. His contract was terminated by mutual consent in January 2025. He subsequently returned to Atlético Nacional.
International Career
Uribe made his debut for Colombia on 25 January 2017 in a 1–0 defeat against Brazil. He was selected for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, playing in three of Colombia's four matches. During the round of 16 penalty shootout against England, his penalty hit the crossbar as Colombia lost 4–3 on penalties after a 1–1 draw.
He scored his first international goals on 9 June 2019, a brace in a 3–0 friendly win against Peru. Uribe also represented Colombia at the 2019, 2021, and 2024 Copa América tournaments, with Colombia finishing as runners-up in 2024 and in third place in 2021. He earned 62 caps and scored 6 goals for his country between 2017 and 2024.
