Matarani is a port city located in the Arequipa Region of southern Peru. Situated at approximately 17° S latitude and 72° W longitude on the Pacific coast, it serves as one of the principal maritime gateways for the country’s export sector.
The port is operated by the state‑owned company Tisur (Terminal Internacional del Sur), which manages cargo handling facilities that accommodate bulk commodities such as minerals, agricultural products, and containerized goods.
