Description
Martellidendron hornei is a species of flowering plant in the family Pandanaceae. As with other members of the genus, it is a woody, monocotyledonous tree or shrub that typically develops a single, unbranched trunk topped by a crown of long, linear leaves. The leaves are stiff, often with a prominent midrib and a sheathing base. Inflorescences are terminal, bearing numerous small, unisexual flowers arranged in spike-like structures. The fruit is a multiple drupe, characteristic of Pandanaceae, and may be enclosed within a persistent, fibrous bract. Detailed morphological measurements (e.g., leaf length, trunk height) are not widely documented in publicly available sources.
Distribution and Habitat
The species is reported from Madagascar, where it occurs in tropical forest habitats, including both lowland and montane regions. It is often associated with humid, shaded environments but can also be found in more open forest margins. Exact range maps and population density data are limited.
Ecology
Like other pandanaceous plants, M. hornei may play a role in forest structure, providing shelter and food for various animal species. Its fruit can be a food source for birds and mammals that aid in seed dispersal. Specific ecological interactions for this species have not been extensively recorded.
Conservation Status
There is no assessment for Martellidendron hornei on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List as of the latest available data. Consequently, its conservation status remains unclear. Habitat loss due to deforestation in Madagascar may pose a threat, but specific impact assessments are lacking.
Uses
No widely documented economic or ethnobotanical uses for Martellidendron hornei have been identified in the literature.

Note
Information on Martellidendron hornei is relatively scarce, and many aspects of its biology, ecology, and conservation remain insufficiently documented in publicly accessible scientific literature. Further field studies are required to provide a comprehensive understanding of the species.
