Marit Kamps (born 1979) is a Dutch visual artist and curator whose interdisciplinary practice combines performance, installation, and archival research. Her work investigates the construction of memory, the politics of historical narratives, and the material conditions of objects and spaces.
Early life and education
- Born in the Netherlands.
- Completed a Master of Fine Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, graduating in 2005.
Artistic practice
Kamps frequently employs found objects, documentary material, and performative gestures to foreground the ways in which histories are recorded, preserved, and contested. Her projects often involve extensive archival research, resulting in installations that juxtapose historical documents with contemporary interventions.
