Marina Arismendi

Arismendi first held the portfolio of Minister of Social Development from 2005 to 2010 during the first presidential term of Tabaré Vázquez. She returned to the position for a second tenure from 2015 to 2020, again serving under President Vázquez. Her work as minister focused on the design and implementation of social programs aimed at poverty alleviation, expanding access to healthcare, education, and housing for vulnerable sectors of the Uruguayan population. She is also notably the daughter of Rodney Arismendi, a historical leader of the Communist Party of Uruguay.
