Marco Negri (born 27 July 1970) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a forward. He is best known for his prolific goal‑scoring spell with Scottish club Rangers during the late 1990s.
Overview
Negri began his senior career in Italy, featuring for clubs such as Perugia, Torino, and Salernitana in Serie A and Serie B. In 1997 he transferred to Rangers Football Club in the Scottish Premier League, where he quickly became one of the league’s most lethal strikers. During the 1997‑98 season he scored 23 league goals, helping Rangers secure the Scottish Premier League title. A serious knee injury in 1998 curtailed his form, and he subsequently returned to Italy, playing for clubs including Sampdoria, Varese, and Crotone before retiring from professional football in 2005. After retirement, Negri has remained involved in football as a coach and pundit.
