Marcel Kappelmaier (born 15 March 1991) is a German former professional footballer who played primarily as a centre-back. He is most notable for his extensive youth career with FC Bayern Munich and his subsequent appearances for their reserve team in the Regionalliga.
Early Life and Youth Career
Kappelmaier was born in Munich, Germany. He began his footballing journey at a young age, playing for local clubs such as TSV Moosach-Hartmannshofen and SpVgg Unterhaching before joining the prestigious youth academy of FC Bayern Munich. He progressed through various age groups at Bayern, showcasing his defensive abilities and leadership qualities.
Club Career
FC Bayern Munich II
After excelling in Bayern Munich's youth ranks, Kappelmaier was promoted to FC Bayern Munich II, the club's reserve team, in 2009. He spent three seasons with the second team, making a total of 69 appearances in the Regionalliga Bayern and scoring 1 goal. During his time with Bayern II, he played alongside several future Bundesliga players, gaining valuable experience in a semi-professional environment.
Later Career
Following his departure from FC Bayern Munich II in 2012, Kappelmaier moved to TSV 1860 Rosenheim, competing in the Regionalliga Bayern. He remained with Rosenheim for two seasons.
In 2014, he transferred to SV Heimstetten, where he played for one season. After his stint with Heimstetten, Kappelmaier transitioned into lower amateur leagues, joining clubs like TSV Schwabhausen. He continued to play football at a regional level, combining it with other professional pursuits.
