María Esther Gamas (21 April 1911 – 21 September 2006) was an Argentine stage and film actress. She was born in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina, to a Chilean mother and a Galician father. She was one of the prominent figures of the Golden Age of Argentine Cinema.
Gamas appeared in approximately 20 films over a career that spanned from 1931 to 1976. Her selected filmography includes By the Light of a Star (1941), When the Heart Sings (1941), Savage Pampas (1945), and Rhythm, Salt and Pepper (1951). She also worked extensively in theatre and as a singer of tango and milonga.
She was married to musician Roberto Fugazot, with whom she had a daughter, María Rosa Fugazot, who also became an actress. Her sister-in-law was the actress and comedian Gogó Andreu.
Gamas died on 21 September 2006 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the age of 95, following a long illness.
