Armando Vieira Diniz (born 25 January 1970), commonly known as Manucho, is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a forward. He is primarily known for his seven seasons with Estrela da Amadora in the Primeira Liga, Portugal's top-tier football division.
Career
Born in Porto, Manucho Diniz began his football development in the youth ranks of local giants FC Porto. He made his professional debut with FC Porto B during the 1989–1990 season, competing in the Segunda Divisão B.
In 1990, Manucho made a significant move to Estrela da Amadora, a club based in Amadora, on the outskirts of Lisbon. Over the next seven years, he became a key figure for the team, establishing himself as a consistent presence in the Primeira Liga. During his tenure at Estrela da Amadora, he played a crucial role in the club's efforts to maintain their status in the top flight, contributing regularly with goals and overall attacking play.
Following his departure from Estrela da Amadora in 1997, Manucho continued his career with several other Portuguese clubs across various professional divisions. His subsequent clubs included S.C. Salgueiros (1997–1998), F.C. Felgueiras (1998–1999), F.C. Maia (1999–2000), and F.C. Penafiel (2000–2002). He later had spells with U.D. Oliveirense (2002–2003) and Padroense F.C. (2003–2004) before concluding his professional football career.
Manucho Diniz was recognized throughout his career for his work rate, versatility in attack, and goal-scoring ability within the Portuguese league system. Although he did not earn any international caps for Portugal, his long and consistent career, particularly his extended period in the Primeira Liga, solidified his place as a notable professional footballer in Portuguese club football during the 1990s and early 2000s.
