Mamadou Diawara (born 1961) is a Malian‑born German ethnomusicologist and professor of musicology. He is noted for his research on West African musical traditions, the cultural politics of music in the Sahel, and the African diaspora’s musical practices. Diawara holds a chair at the University of Cologne, where he also serves as director of the Institute of Musicology.
