Malik Washington (born November 23, 2000) is an American professional [[American football]] [[wide receiver]] for the [[Miami Dolphins]] of the [[National Football League]] (NFL). He played [[college football]] for [[Northwestern University]] and the [[University of Virginia]].
Early Life and High School
Washington was born on November 23, 2000, in Snellville, Georgia. He attended Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia, where he excelled in football as a wide receiver and was also a track and field athlete.College Career
Washington began his collegiate football career at Northwestern University in 2019.Northwestern (2019–2022)
During his four seasons with the Northwestern Wildcats, Washington steadily increased his production:- 2019: Played in 11 games, recording 6 receptions for 30 yards.
- 2020: Played in 9 games, catching 20 passes for 276 yards and 1 touchdown.
- 2021: Played in 12 games, recording 35 receptions for 445 yards and 2 touchdowns.
- 2022: Played in 12 games, catching 65 passes for 694 yards and 1 touchdown.
Following the 2022 season, Washington entered the [[NCAA transfer portal]] and transferred to the University of Virginia for his final year of eligibility.
Virginia (2023)
In his single season with the Virginia Cavaliers, Washington had a breakout performance, establishing himself as one of the top receivers in college football:- He set a new program record for single-season receptions with 110.
- He accumulated 1,426 receiving yards, which ranked second in program history for a single season and was among the national leaders in 2023.
- He also scored 9 receiving touchdowns.
