Mali Didushychi

Overview

Mali Didushychi is a rural settlement located in the western part of Ukraine. Its name, "Mali," means "small," distinguishing it from the nearby village of Velyki Didushychi ("Big Didushychi"). The "Didushychi" part likely derives from a personal name or a term related to elders/ancestors.

Demographics

According to the Ukrainian national census of 2001, Mali Didushychi had a population of 618 inhabitants. The majority of the population is ethnically Ukrainian.

History

Like many settlements in the Lviv Oblast, Mali Didushychi has a long history, having been part of various historical states including the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Austrian (later Austro-Hungarian) Empire, the Second Polish Republic, and the Soviet Union before becoming part of independent Ukraine in 1991. The administrative reforms of 2020 led to its incorporation into the newly formed Stryi Raion and the Hnizdychi settlement hromada.

Economy and Infrastructure

The local economy is primarily agricultural, typical for rural areas in western Ukraine. The village is connected to neighboring settlements by local roads. Public services for residents are managed by the Hnizdychi hromada.
