Maciej Iwański

Maciej Iwański (born 19 May 1981) is a Polish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Known for his technical abilities, passing range, and set-piece delivery, Iwański spent the majority of his career in the Polish Ekstraklasa.

Early Career Iwański began his professional career with Odra Wodzisław Śląski, making his debut in the Ekstraklasa in the early 2000s. His performances quickly established him as a promising young talent in the Polish league.

Club Career

  • Zagłębie Lubin: In 2005, Iwański moved to Zagłębie Lubin, where he became a key player. He played a significant role in the club's unexpected Ekstraklasa title win during the 2006–07 season, contributing with crucial goals and assists from midfield.
  • Legia Warsaw: His success at Zagłębie Lubin led to a transfer to one of Poland's biggest clubs, Legia Warsaw, in 2008. At Legia, Iwański continued to be a central figure, known for his leadership and consistent performances. He won the Polish Cup with Legia in the 2007–08 and 2010–11 seasons.
  • Polonia Warsaw & Ruch Chorzów: After his tenure at Legia, Iwański played for city rivals Polonia Warsaw and later joined Ruch Chorzów, where he continued to be an influential player in the midfield.
  • Later Career: He subsequently played for other Polish clubs, including Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała, and spent some time in lower divisions before concluding his professional playing career.

International Career Maciej Iwański earned several caps for the Poland national team. He made his debut in 2007 and featured in various friendly matches and qualification games, though he did not participate in any major international tournaments.
