MK (DJ)

MK is the stage name of Marc Kinchen, an American house music DJ, record producer, and remixer. Born on November 3, 1970, in Detroit, Michigan, Kinchen became a prominent figure in the electronic music scene during the early 1990s. He is widely recognized for his distinct approach to house music, characterized by chopped vocal samples and rhythmic piano patterns.

Kinchen began his career in the Detroit techno scene, initially mentored by Kevin Saunderson. He gained significant international recognition for his remixing capabilities, most notably his 1992 remix of "Push the Feeling On" by Nightcrawlers. The remix, which heavily utilized vocal splicing, became a global club hit and influenced the development of the UK garage and deep house genres. Other notable early works include the tracks "Always" and "Burning."

Throughout the mid-1990s, Kinchen transitioned into mainstream pop production, working with various high-profile artists. After a period of relative absence from the electronic dance music scene, he returned to prominence in the early 2010s. During this period, his remix of Storm Queen's "Look Right Through" reached number one on the UK Singles Chart in 2013.

In addition to his production work, MK operates as a high-profile touring DJ and runs his own record label and event brand, Area 10. His discography includes numerous original singles, such as "Piece of Me" (with Becky Hill) and "17," both of which achieved commercial success in European markets. He remains an active figure in the global house music circuit, frequently performing at major festivals and residencies.
