DeCoite's political career began with her election to the Hawaii House of Representatives in 2014, where she represented District 13, encompassing parts of Maui (Haʻikū, Peʻahi, Hāna, Kaupō, Kīpahulu, Nāhiku, Pāʻia, and Makawao) and the islands of Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi. She served in this capacity until 2020.
In 2020, following the passing of Senator J. Kalani English, DeCoite was appointed to fill the vacant seat in the [[Hawaii State Senate]], representing District 7. She served in the Senate until 2022, after which she successfully ran again for her former seat in the Hawaii House of Representatives, returning to represent District 13.
Prior to her career in politics, DeCoite was known for her background in farming and ranching on her home island of [[Molokaʻi]], where she continues to reside.
