History

Lydd Town Football Club was established in 1893, making it one of the oldest football clubs in the county of Kent. For much of its early history, the club competed in various local Kent leagues, establishing itself as a prominent amateur side in the Romney Marsh area.

The club experienced periods of significant success in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, particularly within the Kent County League structure. These successes included winning multiple league titles and various local cup competitions, which enabled the club to progress through the regional football pyramid.

In 2011, Lydd Town became a founding member of the Kent Invicta League, which marked their entry into the official National League System (then at Step 6). This promotion represented a significant step up for the club. Following the restructuring of non-league football, the Kent Invicta League later merged with the Southern Counties East League. Lydd Town subsequently became a member of the Southern Counties East League Division One, where they have generally maintained their position, focusing on developing local talent and strengthening community ties.

Lydd Town F.C. plays its home matches at The Salts, also known as the Lydd Town F.C. Sports Ground, located on the outskirts of Lydd, Kent. The ground provides facilities typical of Step 6 football, including a clubhouse, changing rooms, and spectator areas.
