Louletano Desportos Clube, commonly abbreviated as Louletão D.C., is a Portuguese association football club based in Loulé, a municipality in the Algarve region. Founded on 6 January 1923, the club competes in the Campeonato de Portugal, the third tier of the Portuguese football league system, as of the 2023–24 season.
History
Louletano D.C. was established by local enthusiasts with the aim of promoting sports and recreation in Loulé. The club originally participated in regional competitions before gaining admission to the national league structure. Throughout its history, Louletano has oscillated between the third and fourth tiers of Portuguese football, achieving its highest placement in the Segunda Divisão B (now Campeonato de Portugal) during several campaigns in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Stadium
The team plays its home matches at the Estádio Municipal de Loulé, which has a capacity of approximately 6,000 spectators. The stadium is owned by the municipal government and is used for both football and community events.
Colours and Badge
Louletano’s traditional colours are black and white, displayed in vertical stripes on the home kit. The club’s badge incorporates symbols associated with the town of Loulé, including a stylised representation of the town’s historic castle and the name “Louletano” rendered in a distinctive script.
