Louis de Paor

Louis de Paor (born 1961) is an Irish poet, academic, and translator who writes primarily in the Irish language. He is noted for his contributions to contemporary Irish-language poetry and for his work in literary criticism and translation.

Early life and education
Louis de Paor was born in Cork, Ireland, in 1961. He pursued higher education in Irish language and literature, obtaining a doctorate in Modern Irish literature. His scholarly research has focused on twentieth‑century Irish poetry.

Academic career
De Paor has held academic positions in Irish studies, most prominently as a lecturer at the National University of Ireland, Galway, where he teaches courses on Irish language, literature, and creative writing. He has also lectured in the United States, including a visiting professorship at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
