Louis Ralph (born Louis Leopold Bathschy; 17 August 1878 – 14 September 1952) was a German actor and film director. He was a prominent figure in German cinema during the silent and early sound eras, appearing in over 100 films and directing more than 20.
Born in Vienna, Austria-Hungary (now Austria), Ralph began his career on the stage before transitioning to film. He made his film debut in 1913 and quickly established himself as a versatile character actor. He often played supporting roles, but also took on leading parts, particularly in adventure films and dramas.
Ralph's directorial career began in the early 1920s. He directed a variety of genres, including crime thrillers, historical dramas, and comedies. Many of his films are now considered lost.
With the advent of sound film, Ralph continued his acting career, though his directorial output decreased. He remained active in German cinema until his death in Berlin in 1952.
