Louis Bookman (25 January 1894 – 5 March 1979) was an Irish athlete who played both association football and baseball at competitive levels. He is noted for his contributions to Irish football during the early 20th century and for being one of the few Irish‑born players to also pursue a career in baseball.

Louis Bookman was born in Dublin, Ireland, to Lithuanian‑Jewish immigrants. He grew up in Dublin’s North Strand area, where he developed an early interest in sport, participating in local football and baseball clubs.
Football career
Bookman began his senior football career with Bohemians, playing as a forward/winger. He later transferred to Shelbourne, where he became a regular first‑team member. His performances earned him selection for the Irish Free State national team, for which he earned several caps in the early 1920s. Baseball involvement
