Lori Trahan (born July 12, 1973) is an American attorney and Democratic politician serving as the United States Representative for Massachusetts’s 3rd congressional district since 2019.
Overview
Trahan was born in Newton, Massachusetts, and raised in the state’s South Shore region. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1995 and a Juris doctorate from the Boston College Law School in 1998. After completing her legal education, Trakan practiced law with a focus on labor and employment issues, and later served as a senior advisor to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
In 2018, Trahan won the Democratic primary for the open 3rd congressional district seat, succeeding former Representative Niki Tsongas. In Congress, she serves on the Committee on Ways and Means and the Committee on Small Business.
