Mearns Castle, Newton Mearns

- Description: A well‑preserved tower house built for the Mure family, later incorporated into a 19th‑century mansion. The original stone tower retains its vaulted ground‑floor chamber, characteristic corbelled parapet, and original gunloops. The later mansion, now a hotel and conference centre, is attached to the tower but the Category A designation applies specifically to the medieval tower.
