Description
Liparus coronatus is a species of broad‑nosed weevil characterized by the typical rostrum (snout) and elbowed antennae of Curculionidae. The adult beetle possesses a moderately convex, oval body, usually measuring between 4 and 7 mm in length. The exoskeleton is generally brown to black with a slight metallic sheen; the elytra (wing covers) may display faint punctate striae. Detailed morphological characters that distinguish L. coronatus from congeners include the shape of the rostrum, the pattern of elytral setae, and the structure of the male genitalia.

Distribution
The species has a Palearctic distribution. Confirmed records include parts of Western and Central Europe, such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia. Isolated populations have also been reported from the eastern Mediterranean region.

Habitat and Ecology
Liparus coronatus inhabits temperate woodland and hedgerow environments, where it is commonly associated with herbaceous plants. Adults are phytophagous, feeding on the foliage of a variety of low‑lying dicotyledonous plants. Larvae develop in the soil, feeding on root material and organic detritus. The life cycle is univoltine (one generation per year) in most of its range, with adults emerging in late spring to early summer.

Economic Importance
No significant economic impact has been documented for L. coronatus. It is not considered an agricultural pest, and its interactions with cultivated crops are minimal.

Conservation Status
The species is not listed on the IUCN Red List and is generally regarded as widespread and common within its range. No specific threats have been identified that would warrant conservation concern.
