Limido Comasco

Limido Comasco is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Como, in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. It is situated approximately 30 kilometres north of Milan and about 12 kilometres southwest of the city of Como, within the historic area known as the Brianza.

Geography
The municipality covers an area of 2.5 km² (0.97 sq mi) and lies at an elevation of roughly 300 metres (984 ft) above sea level. Limido Comasco borders the communes of Cadorago, Cermenate, Montano Lucino, and Rovellasca.

Demographics
According to data from the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat) as of 30 April 2023, the population of Limido Comasco was approximately 4,800 inhabitants. Residents are referred to as “Limidesi.”

History
The settlement's origins date to the Middle Ages, when the area formed part of the feudal holdings of local noble families. Throughout the centuries, Limido Comasco was incorporated into the Duchy of Milan and later the Kingdom of Italy. The name “Limido” is believed to derive from a Lombard personal name, while “Comasco” indicates its location within the territory of Como.

Economy and Infrastructure
Limido Comasco’s economy is characterized by a mix of small‑scale manufacturing, services, and agricultural activities typical of the Brianza region. The municipality is served by regional road networks connecting it to nearby towns and the A9 motorway (Milan–Chiasso). Public transportation includes bus routes operated by the regional transport authority.

Culture and Landmarks
Key points of interest include the parish church of San Giovanni Battista, which features architectural elements from the 16th century, and several historic villas reflecting the traditional Brianza style. Local cultural events often center on religious festivals and community gatherings.
