History
The cooperative was established in 2002. On 11 July 2006 the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (now the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland) awarded Liffey Sound FM a five‑year community radio contract, and the station commenced broadcasting later that month. An official opening ceremony took place on 6 October 2006. Initially the service aired a limited schedule of 23 hours per week, primarily on weekends. Over subsequent years the broadcast hours were expanded, and the station now transmits approximately 58 hours per week.

The transmitter operates at a power of 5 watts from coordinates 53°20′55.10″ N 6°25′24.96″ W. The station’s programming is delivered in both English and Irish and follows a community radio format, aiming to provide a voice for local residents and to promote civic engagement.
