Leventochori, Elis

Leventochori (Greek: Λεβεντοχώρι) is a village in the regional unit of [[Elis (regional unit)|Elis]], [[Greece]], located on the western [[Peloponnese]] peninsula.

Overview Leventochori is situated in the western part of Elis, approximately 8 kilometers (5 miles) northwest of [[Pyrgos, Elis|Pyrgos]], the capital city of the regional unit. The village lies close to the [[Ionian Sea]] coast, making it a local point of interest, particularly during the summer months due to its proximity to beaches.

Administration Administratively, Leventochori belongs to the [[Municipality of Pyrgos]], within the regional unit of Elis. Before the [[Kallikratis plan]] local government reforms of 2011, it was part of the former municipality of Pyrgos. The village constitutes a local community within the municipal unit.

Geography The village is built on relatively flat terrain, characteristic of the coastal plains of Elis. Its coastal location contributes to a mild Mediterranean climate. Nearby areas feature agricultural land, primarily olive groves and vineyards, common throughout the region.

Population According to the 2011 Greek census, Leventochori had a population of 254 residents.

Economy The economy of Leventochori, like many rural areas in Elis, is primarily based on agriculture, including olive oil production and other crops. Tourism also plays a role, especially due to its access to nearby beaches which attract visitors during the summer season.
