Leon H. Andrews

Leon H. Andrews (November 24, 1869 – December 16, 1948) was an American lawyer, judge, and politician from the state of West Virginia. A Republican, he notably served as a member of the West Virginia Senate and later as a long-serving Circuit Court Judge for the 10th Judicial Circuit.

Early Life and Education

Born on November 24, 1869, Leon H. Andrews pursued a career in law. He was admitted to the bar in 1897, subsequently establishing his legal practice in West Virginia.

Political Career

Andrews entered public service as the Prosecuting Attorney for Boone County, West Virginia, holding the office for a term in the early 1900s. He later successfully ran for the West Virginia Senate, representing the 7th Senatorial District (which at the time encompassed Boone County). He served two terms as a state senator, from 1913 to 1916, during which he contributed to the legislative affairs of the state.

Judicial Career

Following his time in the state legislature, Andrews transitioned to a distinguished career on the bench. In 1920, he was elected Judge of the 10th Judicial Circuit, which comprised Boone, Lincoln, and Putnam counties. He was re-elected to this position in 1928, continuing his service as a Circuit Court Judge until his retirement. His tenure as a judge spanned over two decades, leaving a significant impact on the legal landscape of his judicial circuit.

Death

Leon H. Andrews passed away on December 16, 1948.
