Leland Irving (born April 11, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender. Born in Barrhead, Alberta, Irving played major junior hockey in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the Everett Silvertips, where he established several franchise records for goaltenders.
Irving was selected by the Calgary Flames in the first round, 26th overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He turned professional in 2008, initially playing for the Flames' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliates, the Quad City Flames and the Abbotsford Heat. He made his National Hockey League (NHL) debut with Calgary during the 2011–12 season, appearing in seven games. He played an additional six games for the Flames during the 2012–13 season.
Following his tenure with the Calgary Flames organization, Irving transitioned to European professional leagues. His career includes stints with Jokerit in Finland's Liiga, Avangard Omsk and Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), and HC Bolzano in the Austrian-based EBEL (now ICEHL). He also returned to North America to play for the Syracuse Crunch and San Diego Gulls in the AHL, and played for HC Lugano in the Swiss National League.
On the international stage, Irving represented Canada at the 2007 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. He served as the backup goaltender to Carey Price, earning a gold medal as part of the Canadian national team.
