Laurie Brownlie is a former New Zealand professional rugby league footballer who played as a prop in the 1960s and 1970s. He is recognized for his contributions to both New Zealand and British rugby league.
Brownlie began his career in New Zealand, where he played for local clubs such as Mount Roskill and earned selection for the Auckland representative side. His strong performances at the provincial level led to his call-up to the New Zealand national team, the Kiwis, where he represented his country on the international stage.
In 1968, Brownlie moved to England to play professionally in the RFL Championship, joining the Leeds club. During his time at Leeds, he was part of a formidable forward pack and contributed to the team's successes. Following his spell at Leeds, he also played for Hunslet. Brownlie was known for his powerful and resilient style of play in the front row.
