Laurie Ayton Snr

Laurie Ayton Snr (also written Laurie Ayton Sr.; 29 February 1894 – 13 May 1962) was a Scottish professional golfer. He was born in Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland, and spent much of his career associated with the Gullane Golf Club, where he served as a club professional.

Ayton competed in several editions of The Open Championship during the 1920s and 1930s. His best finish in the tournament was a tie for 16th place in 1929. In addition to his playing career, he was noted for his contributions to golf instruction and club making.

He was the father of Laurie Ayton Jr., who also pursued a career as a professional golfer. Laurie Ayton Snr remained active in the Scottish golf community until his death on 13 May 1962 in Gullane.
