Landen Akers

Landen Akers (born July 7, 1997) is an American professional football wide receiver. He played college football at Iowa State and has been a member of the Los Angeles Rams (NFL), San Antonio Brahmas (XFL/UFL), and Houston Roughnecks (XFL).

Early Life

Akers grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and attended Washington High School, where he played baseball, football, and ran track. He was named second-team Class 4A All-State as a senior after gaining 1,320 all-purpose yards and scoring 11 total touchdowns.

College Career

Akers played for the Iowa State Cyclones from 2016 to 2020, greyshirting his first year and redshirting the next season. Over 48 collegiate games, he recorded 38 receptions for 593 yards and one touchdown. As a senior, he caught 18 passes for 269 yards with one touchdown. He earned First Team Academic All-Big 12 (2020) and Second Team Academic All-Big 12 (2017) honors, and was a member of the NFF Hampshire Society (2021).

Professional Career

Los Angeles Rams (NFL)

Akers signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent on May 14, 2021. After being waived during final roster cuts, he was signed to the practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster for the team's Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers on November 28, 2021. Akers won Super Bowl LVI when the Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals. He signed a reserve/future contract on February 15, 2022, but was waived on August 30, 2022.

San Antonio Brahmas (XFL)

On November 17, 2022, Akers was drafted by the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL. He was placed on the reserve list on February 21, 2023, and activated on March 21, 2023.

Houston Roughnecks (XFL)

On August 9, 2023, Akers was traded to the Houston Roughnecks. The Roughnecks brand was later transferred to the Houston Gamblers following the merger of the XFL and USFL to form the United Football League (UFL).

San Antonio Brahmas (UFL)

On January 15, 2024, Akers was selected by the Brahmas in the seventh round of the Super Draft during the 2024 UFL dispersal draft. He signed with the team on January 31, 2024.

Physical Measurements

Akers is listed at 6 feet 0 inches (1.83 m) and 191 pounds (87 kg). At his pro day, he recorded a 40-yard dash time of 4.53 seconds, a vertical jump of 39.0 inches (0.99 m), and a broad jump of 10 feet 7 inches (3.23 m).
