Lammhult Parish

Lammhult Parish (Swedish: Lammhults församling) is an ecclesiastical parish within the Church of Sweden, located in Kronoberg County, Sweden. It is part of the Växjö municipality and belongs to the Växjö Diocese.

Overview

Lammhult Parish primarily serves as an administrative unit for the Church of Sweden, responsible for religious services, pastoral care, and community activities within its geographical boundaries. While historically parishes (socknar for civil purposes and församlingar for ecclesiastical purposes) also functioned as civil administrative units in Sweden, these civil functions were largely transferred to municipalities in the 20th century. Today, församlingar (parishes) still serve as geographical statistical areas for certain governmental functions, such as population registration, in addition to their ecclesiastical role.

Geography

The parish is situated in the northern part of Kronoberg County, within the larger administrative area of Växjö Municipality. The primary settlement within the parish is Lammhult, a locality known for its furniture industry.

History

Lammhult Parish was formed relatively recently in 1995 through the merger of three older parishes: Aneboda Parish (Aneboda församling), Bergunda Parish (Bergunda församling), and Ör Parish (Ör församling). This consolidation was part of a larger restructuring within the Church of Sweden aimed at creating larger, more administratively efficient units. The areas covered by these historical parishes now constitute the geographical scope of Lammhult Parish.
