La Côte Airfield, officially known in French as Aérodrome de La Côte, was a former general aviation airfield located in Prangins, in the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland. Situated near Lake Geneva (Lac Léman) and close to the town of Nyon, it served the "La Côte" region of Vaud.
History and Operations: The airfield operated for several decades, primarily serving private aircraft, flying clubs, and various aerial work activities. It provided a local hub for general aviation, offering facilities for light aircraft and helicopters. Its former ICAO airport code was LSGQ. Over its operational period, it was an important facility for local aviation enthusiasts and small businesses requiring air access to the region.
Closure: Due to increasing urban development in the surrounding area, safety concerns regarding its proximity to residential zones, and challenges related to air traffic management in the vicinity of larger airports like Geneva Cointrin Airport, the decision was made to close La Côte Airfield. It ceased operations in 2004, with some sources citing early 2005 as the final year of its activity. The land previously occupied by the airfield was subsequently redeveloped for other purposes.
