Kyaw (Burmese: ကျော) is a town in Gangaw Township, Gangaw District (formerly part of Pakokku District), in the north-western part of the Magway Region of Myanmar (Burma). It is situated on the left (eastern) bank of the Kyaw River, at an elevation of approximately 530 meters (1,740 feet) above sea level. Its coordinates are 21°55′38″N 94°21′43″E.

Transport
The railway line connecting Pakokku to the Myittha River valley runs past Kyaw, providing rail access to the town.
Geography
The town lies in a mountainous and forested region in the northern periphery of Magway Region. The area is characterized by lowland paddy land scarcity and an upland-like agro-ecology, distinguishing it from the rest of central Myanmar. The Kyaw River flows along the eastern side of the town.
Demographics and Development
Kyaw and the surrounding Gangaw Township are predominantly inhabited by ethnic Bamar (Burman) populations. In recent years, the area has experienced state-led development initiatives focused on resource extraction, infrastructure development, and urbanization, reflecting broader processes of state building in Myanmar.
