Kuyeh-ye Olya

Kuyeh-ye Olya (Persian: كويه عليا, also Romanized as Kūyeh-ye ‘Olyā; also known as Kūy-e Bālā) is a village in [[Hesar Rural District]], within the [[Central District (Dorud County)|Central District]] of [[Dorud County]], [[Lorestan Province]], [[Iran]].

Geography and Location: The village is situated in the western part of Iran, within Lorestan Province, a region characterized by its mountainous terrain, part of the [[Zagros Mountains]] range. Dorud County is known for its agricultural land and natural landscapes.

Demographics: According to the [[2016 Iranian census]], Kuyeh-ye Olya had a population of 578 people, residing in 149 households. Population figures in Iranian villages can fluctuate due to internal migration, birth rates, and other socioeconomic factors.

Etymology: The name "Olya" (عليا) is a Persian word meaning "upper" or "higher." This often implies the existence of a corresponding settlement named "Kuyeh-ye Sofla" (كوه سفلي), meaning "Lower Kuyeh," indicating a pair of villages distinguished by their relative elevation or position.
