Early life and education

  • Born on 13 July 1957 in Szczecin, Poland.

Political career

  • Joined the anti‑communist opposition in the 1980s; later became active in the Solidarity trade union movement.
  • Co‑founder of the Law and Justice (Prawo i Sprawiedliwość, PiS) party in 2001.

  • Died on 10 April 2010 in the plane crash near Smolensk, Russia, which killed President Lech Kaczyński and 95 other Polish dignitaries.
