Biography
Born and raised in Cabra, a suburb of Dublin, Kevin Smith began his musical career under the moniker Kojaque. He emerged onto the Irish music scene in the mid-2010s, quickly gaining attention for his storytelling ability and his often poignant or humorous commentary on Irish society and daily life. In 2015, he co-founded the independent record label and collective Soft Boy Records alongside fellow Irish artist Kean Kavanagh, creating a platform that has been instrumental in the rise of a new wave of Irish hip-hop and R&B acts.His debut album, Deli Daydreams, released in 2018, served as his breakthrough. The critically acclaimed concept album chronicles a week in the life of a deli worker, showcasing Kojaque's narrative depth and innovative soundscapes. Following its success, Kojaque embarked on extensive tours, cultivating a significant fanbase both in Ireland and internationally.
In 2021, Kojaque released his second studio album, Town's Dead. His third album, Phantom of the Afters, was released in 2023.
